I wasn’t expecting such a robust appearance but im not complaining there. Lots of caramelized, sweet malts with a touch of hops. Not quite as much of the roasted or nutty characters that many browns have though. Overall, a pretty good beer, worth a try. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Deep brown color, with rich ruby undertones. Full creamy head, a visually better looking beer then I had expected. Some sweet malt in the nose, but misses some of the nutty and sugary aromas of browns I have enjoyed. Finishes a little fast and somewhat hoppy. gueuzeisgod (109), Graham, North Carolina, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 6, 2008 Bottle, coarse bubbled head collapses quickly, rich amber/brown/ garnet hue. Smells just like Yuengling Lager to me, a bit stale, some wet cardboard. Taste has a mild a hop backbone, a bit lagerish, just a trace of brown ale flavor, watery mouthfeel, highly attenuated without much malt body. Finishes watery with a quickly dissipating hop flavor. Doesn’t cross the finish line with a 3 rating for me. JustinFromAL (114), Birmingham, Alabama, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep brown with a reddish tint, with two finger tan head. Malty aroma. Not what I expected when I saw "brown" ale. Not a lot of flavor, but what is there is a bit watery with a malty taste. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 28, 2008 This is not my kind of brown ale..Pours a clear copper colour with decent size off white head. lacing is nice, but thin and scattered. aroma is a little metallicy and malty at times. touch of nuttiness, but mostly watery at times. weak brown ale in my opinion. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany brown color with a one inch tan head. It has a mild malty aroma with a touch of hops. It’s been a long time I’ve had on of these, and it isn’t as Wicked as I remember it being. Not a bad brew, but not great, either. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 13, 2008 Nothing really stands out about this beer - farirly bland. Years ago when microbrews were becoming more available, this seemed a better selection. As the quality and availabilty of microbrews has exploded, it simply doesn’t stand up. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Clear dark brown pour with a light brown head. Very faint aroma, some mild roasted and nutty scents. Flavor is mildly tart up front with a little bit of a roasted flavor coming through and a decent bitter finish. its ok.
