Twelve ounce bottle poured a clear, dark coppery red, with a thin, fine-grained head that dispersed into spiderweb lacing. Smells of sugar, malt, prunes, and alcohol; almost identical to Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale. Taste has hints of nuts, caramel, and hops, with a mildly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is distressingly light and uninteresting; I was expecting wicked flavor or carbonation or something ... anything! This beer is pleasant, but nothing really jumps out about it.

Oct 20, 2008 2008 Bottle in NSC - Pours dk amber with a small tan head, aroma is yeasty malt and a bit of citrus hops, flavour is fairly sweet, very bubbly, average brown...meh...

Oct 9, 2008 Pours a clear amber color with a medium tan head. Aroma is hops and spice. Slightly bitter and dry. Spicy orange and malty hop flavors.

does not count  Oct 3, 2008 Dark brown with lots of bubbles. Fast disappearing, offwhite head. Metally aroma. Caramelly flavor with very little bitterness. Definite burnt and metallic taste early on. Thin body with watery carbonation. Weak ale.
