I had this beer on a trip to the NE in 99(?) and it was ok. Malt and maple flavor are evident upon first taste. I think this was the first maple beer I ever tried. Overall it wasnt bad, just not quite great either.

Had this beer on 7/10/1998. Color is a deep dark brown, with low carbonation and very light head. Aroma is the sweet scent of Maple syrup. Taste is rich with a sharp bitterness. It starts with a good medium body that right from the start brings on a smoke taste with light back tones of maple starting as it goes down. All of this builds a little stronger in the finish, which is filled with a sharp bitterness. The smokey maple flavor is a little to strong for me but the rest of this is ok.

12 oz. bottle - interesting take on a porter with the maple, but it just didn’t seem to sit right with my palate
