Spritzy appearance, light golden body, funky farmyard apple aroma. Classic flemish sour flavor, quite tart, medium cherry-pit bitterness in the finish, very drinkable. Strange combination of flemish sour, gueuze, and saison that works really well. Seems to be really hard to find around here. Had to bring back from the Bier Tempel in Belgium.

Pours a dull apricot color w/ a fast fading spritzy head that leaves behind a lingering lace. Aromas of tart to sour fruit. Light nectar w/ ample residual effers that explode on the palate creating a chewy cotton texture. Pleasantly sour and brisk. Flavors of under ripened peaches, green apples, sour grapes, and a touch of sodium. The finish is dry and has a lingering tartness. Overall: this brew is very enjoyable and well balanced. I was amazed to learn it was over 7% abv. I couldn’t tell at all.

Bottle @ GBBF ’07. Petrus? I thought upon Mes’ recommendation but little did I know what I was about to behold. Golden/amberish with a thin white head. Nose of citrus, lemon and lime, apple, yeast and a bit of hay. So much flavour from such a small 25cl bottle, it’s got qualities of a lambic and some subtle woody sour ale notes. Tart and citric, again lemon, lime and apple but also some subtle cherry sour ale notes with yeast, malt and a touch of oak. I’m so kicking myself that I didn’t grab any of these at Drunken Geese when I had the chance.

Pours golden in color and seems carbonated. Not much head. Very odd aroma. My friend had never had a sour and I let him try it and he was not too happy with it. Very tart and sour in flavor and great on the palate. One of the best sours I have had.

Bottle. Hazy, golden-orange pour. Berry-like, sour fruityness and some barnyard in the aroma. The flavor is quite sour and berry-like as well. Medium, quite astringent mouthfeel. Truly a lovely beer, that surprised a bit. (070914)

Bottle. [thank you, Skortila!]
Thought this was only available in the states, but Jos found it in Holland, and I in Belgium. Pours a very clear golden cobber-orange with a lot of bubbles. A small creamy white head on top that stays for quite some time and leaves great ’fat’ lacing. Aroma is funk, muskyness, barnyard, slight sour fruit as well as a clear sweet caramel background. Lively and slightly spritzy mouthfeel. Flavour is impressive, quite tart at first, very dry. A lot of caramel hidden behind the usual lambic flavours. Apples and oak appear as well. Wonderful beer to try!
