Our Petrus Aged Pale is an undiluted old beer, only to be exported to the US.

Appears a hazy, pale gold with a lush, 2 finger, fluffy white head. Lots of scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is sugary, oaky, tart apples, aged with lactobacillus, brett, sweet tarts, mild cherries, cakey yeast, aged funk, and perhaps some over-ripened banana peel. Taste is of the aromas...sweet tart, funky, bacteria laden, infected oak aged, Belgian brew. I think you’ll either love it, or not. Personally, I really enjoyed it. Mouthfeel is sweet up front, tart along the tongue, light bodied, mildly acidic, spritzy, and dry. A nice experience of a tart, Oak barrel brew.

Bottle. Poured hazy pale color with a large frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Heavy tart citrus and fruit aroma. Medium body. Medium sour citrus flavor with a medium sour finish of moderated duration. This is a very refreshing standout beer.

Slightly clouded golden body with a small white head. Smells like a freshly baked cherry muffin. Very malty with a bready character. Oak barrel flavour and floral hops with mild-medium bitterness. Probably the most hoppy/bitter Flemish Sour I’ve ever had. The balance is amazing, all elements express themselves perfectly. Pleasant surprise, underrated and probably held down because of the lacklustre Petrus name. I wish everything “aged” would be so irresistible… unlike me….

Bottle. Hazy, orangey amber colour with a medium-sized white head. Sweet and sour fruit aroma, hinting towards cherries. Great fruity flavours, great balance between sweet and sour, warming alcohol. Cherry and sour yoghurt flavours, woody finish leaving the mouth dry. Well-carbonated, good mouthfeel. A masterpiece of a beer-please some in Europe as wel!!

Hazy dark gold wth a white head. Funky sweet and sour aroma with wet wool and vitamin C. Lean and sour with lemon rind and perfect balancing sweetness. Very acidic. Not extremely complex but still very good.

Bottled - Criterion - Leicester. A bright orange coloured beer with a small white head but a suprisingly large amount of lace. The aroma is lovely and sour with lots of lemon notes. The taste is again beautifully sour and sharp. Great acidity and more lemony fruitiness. Good stuff.

Bottle, Waagstuck, Antwerp, Belgium, 06-10-06. Managed to get this beer in the above bar which suprised me as all that I’d read had suggested that it was export only. Light golden in colour with slight haze and white head, aroma was sour oaky and quite yeasty, taste was more of the same, this was Loz’s beer she took one sip and then passed it to me, in truth not really my thing either.

12 oz bottle, The Beeryard, Wayne PA. Pours a clear medium gold colored body with a small very fine bubbled bright white head. Aided in retention by my Chimay goblet. Aroma is quite tart with a balancing sugary sweetness. Some oak and fruity notes as well. Flavor is quite tart and tannic up front and fades to a drying acetic finish. Some raw oak, light pale malts, and some leafy hops. Mouthfeel is fairly light and airy with a thinnish texture and alot of fizzy efforvescent carbonation. Overall, this was quite an odd beer. Not the beer that I remembered from a few years ago. It had an almost lambic like feel to it.
