| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Bottle. Pours rich brown with a creamy off-white head. Lively carbonation on the palate leading to a creamy sweetness. Fairly malty and sweet on the nose. A bit raisiny and nutty with a bit of yeasty dryness. Nice complexity. Toffee sweetness. Oak. Caramel. Rich sweetness balanced by a nice oak/yeast dryness. Creme brulee. Quite a nice offering! I was a bit surprised. Not too bad for a lighter fare dessert beer. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 30, 2007 Pours a slightly cloudy medium brown with a thin head with poor retention. Smells suspiciously like a Flemish sour ale - tart cherry. Slightly sour taste - like a Flemish ale but not quite tart enough to qualify. Decent hops - not overly sweet, but not terribly hoppy. Syrupy body on the thick side, overcarbonated (took some forceful pouring to get it to behave). Nothing special here, move along. nick76 (2657), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 26, 2007 The aroma has chocolate, fruit, roasted malt, and cream. The appearance is hazy red/brown with an average head. I really enjoyed the flavor of this one even though it’s cloying from the sweetness. It’s got maple syrup, chocolate, dark roasted malts, bitterness, and fruit. It’s also acidic and biting. I really could have done without that. The palate is smooth but a little sticky. The aftertaste is like alcoholic chocolate milk with a touch of coffee liqueur and cola. Overall a good beer. jbrus (4871), Delft, Netherlands
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 23, 2007 Bottled. Nice complex aroma, hints cherry, prune, raisin and milkchocolate. Ruby/dark brown color, beige head, good lace. Start already sweet but this increases even more towards the finish, light roasted bitterness, some fruity sourness underneath. Starts promising with chocolate and cherry but immediately drops down plain sugar and a light bitterness. Sticky mouthfeel. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with ruby highlights and a very large long lasting tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, rum raisin, sweet malt, and cherries. Taste is rum raisin, sweet caramel, slightly tart cherries, and sugar dates. Medium full mouthfeel with a good amount of carbonation and mild bitterness. A very under rated Dubbel. bleeng (597), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 11, 2007 In bottle at De Zolder. Dark color with a very sour nose. Taste isn’t as sour as the nose. Tastes of sour cherries? Very smooth and not cloying. A decent beer. acearl (215), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA
