Dark red/brown pour with no real head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Taste is caramel when it first hits the tongue. After that there is a free for all between chewy malt and slight hops with the malt reigning supreme. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Aroma of powdered brown sugar (this makes sense), raisins, prunes, some toffee and a bit of cola. Flavor is oxidized, but doesn’t seem to make the beer too bad. A little too sweet for me, little bitterness noted, dry finish. Watery body, moderate to high carbonation. Not too great. Aurelius (2654), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Lightly bittered, a little under carbonated. Brown sugar, light molasses, somewhat watery. Clingy sugar finish. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Big yeasty candi sugar nose on a deep cloudy coppery medium amber pour with a sudsy white head. Big fruity yeasty sugary mid-palate and a clingy sweet finish. A little on the sweet side; made lovingly and well if not from an inspired recipe. alfmaester (8), godalming, England does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 12, 2007 Dark but translusent brown in colour. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2007 Incedibly dark brown, nearly black, color with a thin head. Slightly roasted aroma with a lot of caramel and molasses. The caramel comes out nicely in the flavor with a moderately rich maltiness. Not fancy, but a solid Dubbel.
