2009 Bottle - Pours a beautiful transparent ruddy amber with a medium beige head...aroma is massivelt fruity, apple, grape, plum...caramel malt and wood...flavour is like candy, sugar, raisin, caramel corn, bread, the slightest hop bitterness that is quickly fleeting and you are left with brown sugar essence...at no point was this sticky or cloying at all, it was like an open-faced caramel sandwich made out of clouds...incredibly odd and very tasty...

Bottle from the bar next to the train station in Poperinge... while waiting for the train. Pours dark amber with a medium creamy brownish head. short retention. Aroma is big raisins, really sweet. Some red fruits and hops. Some lacing not much. Taste is really sweet, raisins, prunes and some hops. Quite refreshing even if very sweet.

The aroma resembles the sweet whiff you intake before sipping on an American blended whiskey (like Jack). The rest of the beer parallels caramel taffy, with a caramelized flavor and a thick, chewy mouthfeel that sticks all over. The flavor ends reminding me of sipping on a freshly mixed Jack & Coke with ice... very specifically.

So says the label "The key to heaven". No argument from me. Best before date of 14 July 2007. This one poured a really BIG foamy tan head and the colour was a cloudy dark copper. This had the most incredible lacing I’ve ever seen; it was simply massive! The aroma was of both fruits and spices. Taste - merely terrific, and a not so shabby aftertaste either, with some caramel popping up.

Dark brown coloured beer with small white head. Malty sweet aroma. Full sweet palate slightly sparkling. Finish is malty sweet ending roasted.

Been awhile since I’ve had an Abbey Dubbel... yumyum! Poured out a nice sized light brown cap with pretty good retention and slippery, ropy lacing. I keep forgetting to hit up the aroma cause I’m too busy chugging this. Warm caramel malts, plums, brown sugar... ahhhh not bad at all. The taste loses its early greatness at some point and I recommend not to let this over-warm. Very heavy on the malts with caramel dominating, almost burnt sugar, very sweet, an apparently totally random mix of fruits, odd hop taste. Really smooth beer teeters on slickness but still in a good way. Full bodied. Malts throughout, slight spice piggybacks that. FInishes sweet with a quick fading bitterness and leaves a brown sugar aftertaste. I like.

Glass: Birra Moretti stem glass.
Appearance: Hazy dark amber pour with a one finger beige head.
Aroma: Sweet malt, caramel, cherries and yeast.
Flavor: Very pleasant sour cherry flavor, with dates, figs and raisins underneath.
Palate: Medium body with mild carbonation.
Overall: Excellent surprise. Well worth the 2 dollars I paid for it.

Pours reddish brown with beige head. Aromas of caramel and dark fruits. Sweet fig, raisin, caramel and licorice flavors with some yeast. Medium body with average carbonation. A bit too sweet for me.
