Nose of marzipan, caramel, cherries, and brandy and/or rum. Really, the nose was quite a thick, sensual sweetheart. Intro gives us prickly carbination and flavors of cherry twizler, dried fruit, nuts, and bittersweet chocolate. Overall, it has a very candy-like presence and reminds me a hell of a lot like Ommegang. The malts are thick & luscious and this beer probably makes you cum when coupled with a nice cigar. My only problem is that it becomes cloyingly sweet and mundane if left to warm up too much, so i recommend this to be maintained at colder temps...probably above 50 degrees. | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Aug 1, 2008 A cloying sweetness belies an underlying sourness that melds into a sort of sweet and sour chicken effect. Not appetizing. BelgiskOlklub (406), Viby J, Denmark
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Bottle 33 cl. Creamy head, brown hazy body. The aroma is malty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet not very complex. lithy (1700), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 22, 2008 Dark ruby brown with a light soda tan head that hangs around for a while. A lightly wooden aroma paired with a sweet caramel seems to contrast with the appearance of this dark brown ale. Nice and creamy in the mouth with a smooth roasted character that is followed by a small amount of bitterness. Very drinkable. DuffMan (2756), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 19, 2008 Dark brown, with a shade of red. Malty toasty, brown sugar aroma. The same on the palate, pretty straightforward really. A bit of yeasty fruit. The mouthfeel is on the thin side, and the finish is sweet. I don’t know, but this just didn’t ring my bell. On a different note, it’s pretty funny that the last three ratings are from Albertans! How can you tell Petrus beers just arrived in Alberta?! presario (2976), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Bottle. Very reddy dark brown with thin light brown head. Chalky cocoa marshmallow aroma. Tastes more like a dopplebock or milk chocolate stout. Lots of chocolate, not the usual Belgian flavours. Still an OK tasty brew.
