skoisirius (477), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle and tap. Another mediocre brew from Petrus. Nice sweet fruity malts aspect though. Taste a bit more like a bock almost because of the thin body.
JoeinUccle (667), Brussels, Belgium Sep 2, 2008 Dark, thickly brown beer, disappearing tan head. Malty nose has tart-cherry and wood impression from the yeast. Tastes only a little sweet to me, with a mild and interesting tartness and light bitterness. Soft mouthfeel and going a touch sweeter in the finish. Has a certain Bavik character that separates it from other "dubbels" or Belgian ales of similar strength and color. DaSilky1 (1608), San Diego, California, USA Aug 15, 2008 Chestnut/red body, pristine tan pillowy head. Nose of marzipan, caramel, cherries, and brandy and/or rum. Really, the nose was quite a thick, sensual sweetheart. Intro gives us prickly carbination and flavors of cherry twizler, dried fruit, nuts, and bittersweet chocolate. Overall, it has a very candy-like presence and reminds me a hell of a lot like Ommegang. The malts are thick & luscious and this beer probably makes you cum when coupled with a nice cigar. My only problem is that it becomes cloyingly sweet and mundane if left to warm up too much, so i recommend this to be maintained at colder temps...probably above 50 degrees. Borresteijn (542), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 On tap. Extremely sweet and dry dark brown beer. Some dark fruits and roasted malts, but way too much sugar and sweetness. Not good. daniele (762), Italy Aug 10, 2008 ambrato carico schiuma non abbondante persistenza media note di carammello nocciola leggero acido in bocca tendente al dolce caramello leggermente fruttata e piccola acidita legion242 (1520), Richardson, Texas, USA Aug 1, 2008 A cloying sweetness belies an underlying sourness that melds into a sort of sweet and sour chicken effect. Not appetizing.
