runaway (24), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 21, 2007 330ml bottle poured mahogany with a caramel-soda colored head; bubbles were small and fizzy. Malty, caramelly, and sweet. Tasted good but overall character was too much like a soda.
BeerGestapo (399), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 21, 2008 Brewed in Belgium !!! Pours a brown / burgundy color with a smalll foamy off-white head. Super sweet aroma, raisins, brown sugar, caramel, and plums. Taste is of dark fruits, figs, and malts. The mouthfeel is very spitzy at first and becomes sweet with a hint of dryness at the finish. Pretty interesting stuff.... :) DruncanVeasey (1818), No. 46, Leicestershire, Belgium Nov 20, 2008 Another Petrus gusher. Pours deep burgundy with a marbled yellowy beige head. Pimples of yeast. Wincing sweet baby sick nose initially, giving way to complex malt-driven aromas of toffee, malt loaf, liquorice, choc coated raisin, walnut, locust bean (??). Powdered milk sweet, very lactic, liquoriced. Edging towards a 7. Mouth sweetish with chocolate, walnut, liquorice, hint of roast, peaty grain. Walnutty oak notes really making their presence felt. Czech black lager/ Schwarz like choc, grain, coniferous background hop. Liquorice, Carib bean waxiness and virtual choc.
Unusual, complex, highly suppable dubbel.
BoBoChamp (804), Gent, Belgium Oct 21, 2008 33cl, from the brewery, easy to drink, yet complex brew, balanced, clear, good head, nice brew cheapdark (1655), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 9, 2008 On tap at the Sharp Edge Brasserie. Brownish cloudy with a decent head. Has a very attractive sour ale or candy olfactory laced with a floral hint of vinegar. Interesting sweet flavor laced with a rather punchy strongish alky background. Not over the top and very unique I may say. Barely any carbonation, nearly flat. Very intriuging session. Even tho it seems to be a little too strong for me, I cannot stop sipping it. Easily drinkable for this attribute. Finish is a little alky bitter but this is mulled over and coverred by the intracasies of the brew. Not bad, a weirdly interesting sweet beer. TipsyMcStager (830), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 6, 2008 Aroma is malty, bubble gum, slight pepper. Pours a dark ruby brown, thin tan head. Prune, sweetness, burnt fruit. Sweet finish. Palate is thin.
