MrChopin (621), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2009 Transparent ruby, thin white head that lasts. Malty nose of cherry and brown sugar, lightly tart but generally sweet by a sour’s standards. Flavor is a little weaker, sour wood and light fruit, not much complexity. Thin finish. There isn’t anything special about this one. Slightly woody aroma. Dark coloured and smooth on the palate with some alcohol present. A little sour fruit flavour in a crisp and dry lasting finish. dpbhoosier (51), USA Oct 25, 2009 Bottle. Brown with large head and moderate lacing. Sour fruit aroma. Taste hints at sour but not as sour as aroma would suggest. Somewhat tart. Medium to high carbonation adds to the overall refreshing nature of this beer. Will sample again when I get a chance. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Oct 17, 2009 sample at NotF. Pours a brown color with a small foamy off white head. Nose is lightly sour and toasty. Palate is crisp and almost explosive in the mouth. FLavors of light caramel malts and sour fruits. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Oct 8, 2009 Aroma is quite sour and acidic, with some hints of sweetness from the malt. Flavor is balanced between an initial sweetness and a lingering sourness. Sours aren’t my favorite, although this one is not that bad sfhodense (554), Odense NØ, Denmark Oct 4, 2009 Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, fruit, acidic. Flavour is malty and acidic. kimcgolf (824), Dacula, Georgia, USA Sep 29, 2009 Poured a dark brown with ruby tints and a thin tan head that dissipated quickly to little head or lacing. Aroma was a mild hint of hoppy sour apples and malty dark fruit. Mouthfeel was a pour attempt at a Flemish Sour....slightly sour on the onset, followed by slightly sweet, but never quite got there on either. Flavor was a weak continuation of the scents of the nose, and the finish was short and slightly dry.
Ok, but by no means great nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Sep 23, 2009 On tap at Monk’s Kettle in San Francisco. Fairly cloudy reddish-brown in color with a large, lasting off-white head. Aroma is vinegar, vinous notes, and sweet dark fruits. Flavor is red wine, vinegar, caramel, and cherries. Both sweet and sour. Palate starts a little acidic and tart, but finishes smooth. Medium body. Overall pretty good.
