[Bottle from Els.] Nice great intense aroma which later is to find in the flavor. Notes of oak, sweet sourness, portnotes, round and sharp at the same time, acid and complex indeed this redbrown looking great brew from Flanderen.

nice pour with quickly dimishing head. dark redish color. did not expect the sour/cherry flavor, but liked it quite a bit.

brownish red pour. decent foamy head. light aroma of malt and sour. light funk in the taste with cherry malt and oak. everyhing was balanced well nothing really tanding out. decent flanders style. expected it to be a bit more sweet. light bubbly mouthfeel. easy drinker and good initial step for someone unfamiliar with the style.

They tricked me with the new label but it was about time I revisited the beer. The beer pours with a large, foamy, sticky head. The color of the beer is a dark burgundy red. The head stays around for a bit and then turns into a surface covering lacing. The color is dark enough to make it hard to see through but in the light it’s a clear beer. Aroma is simple yet right on the button for what this beer is going. It’s a light clean beer with an addition of some light funk, cherry, flanders red characteristics, and a hint of wet wood (oak). Taste is watered down cherry/flanders red with a sprtitz-y mineral thing and just a hint of sourness in the aftertaste. An extremely sessionable flanders red, good intro to the style. I doubt it will age well but I will give it a shot. Also, there must only be a very small part of this beer that’s barrel aged for 20 months, most of it is fresh, which is well experienced in the beer.

Medium brown - mostly clear - slightly tart aroma - notes of spice, nuts, sour cherry, vanilla and malt. Flavor is lively & tart, without being unpleasantly sour or funky. Sort of remindes me of Duchess de Bourgogne only a little more sweet and mild.

Pours clear brown with small head. Slightly sweet flavor with some spices. Where is the sourness? Would expect more from a beer like this...

Tasted 16/11/2007. 330ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits. Dark reddish chestnut. Light-tan head that disappears faster than hopes of a Phoenix clean-sheet. Nose is wood, sour fruit, vanilla, dark malt. Quite slender through the mouth, and fizzy, with a little sweetness, reminiscent of cola, a nice balancing sour fruit character and a dry woody finish. Mildly bitter and ever-so-slightly more tannic. Pretty good but, to be honest, I’m a little bit suspicious - "Matured on oaken barrels during 20 months"?

OB pours almost mahogany with a decent head that reduces slowly leaving only a thin, fluffy ring ov evidence. Smells like the sour bratton my aunt Debera used to make, stink the whole house out. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. It has a nice soft cotton texture as it expands on the palate. It’s a dry beer with a defined yet mild souring component. It’s the kind of sour you find in an under rippened peach or green apple. Theres also a touch of roast and cakebread that seems to get lost in the shuffle. I can taste the 20 months of wood along with some gravely rocks from a forgotten meadow. The finish is bittered mildly. Overall: I am impressed but not thirsty for it. My fiancee likes it and that really surprises me.
