| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 6, 2007 Nice sugary sweet aroma with a hint of sour. Dark brown and red in apperance. Extremely thin palate. Watery flavor, light oak and just a touch of sour--way too weak. mgermani (865), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 2, 2007 Pours a dark reddish-brown with a head that lasts all of three seconds, and only the faintest sour aroma. Weak malting but still weaker souring in the taste. Now I see why Rodenbach is so popular - if it’s going to be sour, at least let it be aggressively so. After what little sourness there is wears off, sweetness kicks in until the beer is swallowed, leaving virtually no aftertaste - just the faintest trace of artificial grape flavouring. Very mild, nice body and more than sufficient carbonation. This is a disappointment - certainly not unpleasant, but completely un-notable. kwoeltje (1326), Manchester, Missouri, USA

Scant off-white head but very nice lace. Tart aroma. Starts of sour, then slightly sweet malt and dark fruits. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 22, 2007 Bottle. Brown-red appearance. More sweet than sour. BUt does have a slight woody, bretty sourness towards the finish. Some sweet caramelly notes, and as i said a woody sourness to finish. Quite light/soft. Sombeast (151), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Labelled "Petrus Old Brown Ale aged in oak casks for 2 years".
Bottle code 38085. 11.2 fl. oz.
bottle served in a snifter.
Aroma tart, acetic, slight dark fruity character
Pours a crystal-clear reddish brown with an average, creamy head.
Mouthfeel lively from the carbonation, with a little sting from the light acidity, thin bodied.
Flavor is quite dry, slighty acetic, with a fast mldly woody finish.
Conclusion: Sour character less than expected, milder and more balanced that similar beers in this style. Naven (876), Poway, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Bottle, purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar: Finally, a sour beer I like. This had a faint sour aroma, but the all of the flavors were mild, and meshed with one another. Sourness is present, but subtle and balanced. Pretty good. jonno (603), Brisbane, Australia
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 19, 2007 Certainly looks good...with a nice yeasty aroma, but disappoints in the taste. A slight sourish taste, accompanied by a watery finish. RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Pours brown with some dark ruby hints with a one inch head that settles slowly to a rocky cap, leaving behind a nice webbing of lace.
Smell; sour and fruity, with cherries and plums. Some of the oakiness is there, but not as powerful as I was expecting, and there’s a little bit of chocolate in there as well.
Taste; The oak flavors come out more than the aroma led me to believe they would. There’s a nice sour fruitiness, with cherries, plums and maybe a touch of raspberries. It’s a bit drying in the finish due to the oak barrel aging. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and is pretty easy to drink, even with the dryness.
