This is yet again another style that is just not for me. I don’t know if the bottle I bought was ancient but I found this way to dry and almost tasteless. I poured it down the drain after a couple sips. I may re-rate this in time.....probably not though.

[066-20061018] 250mL. Apple and grape aroma. Ruby-brown body with a long thick creamy off-white head and nice lacing. Tastes like a plate of flat fish, with earthy beet root and macintosh apples, served on a bed of watery pasta noodles. Crisp light mouthfeel, light-medium body. Can feel it coming together but not exactly as a nice flavour. (6/4/6/3/13) 3.2

[1085B-20080203] Bottle (w/ jerc). Sweet light molasses aroma surrounds itself in metallic hay. Hazy, dark brown mahogany body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Fruity cheese booze flavour strangely also hints at sweet leafy plant and green twigs. Medium body. In spite of those things detected, it was quite nice. (5/3/7/3/14) 3.2

11.2 oz. bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar: Deep ruby color, held up to a flashlight, with a medium, fading off white head. Aroma is mild red wine vinegar. Flavor starts lightly sweet followed by a gentle cherry sourness, some wood and a light dry finish. Light bodied and watery with lively carbonation. Refreshing.

Bottled. Dark red colour, huge off-white head. Aroma is spices, vinegar and sour fruits. Flavour is sour fruits with some malts and slight metal. A bit caramel. Aftertaste is sour fruits. Slightly metallic.

Pours a deep reddish brown with a thin white head. Lacing is minimal. Aroma of red vinegar and spicy maltiness, Flavor is malty sweet and slightly sour. Mouthfeel is fairly light and this is very easy to drink. Overall a nice brew.

Dark and opaque brown with fizzy head. Aroma is light and barely has any character. Flavors is extremely sweet yet holds a tart and sour flavor. I guess this coudl be good if it was freshly bottled.

This reddish-brown ale poured with a medium tan head, most of which dissipated rather quickly. There is, indeed, a sour brown flavor, but it is so thin as to be almost undetectable. There is a slightly astringent finish.

250 mL bottle. I like the ruby-brown description of its colour. Strong aroma of rum-raisin ice cream or plum pudding (with rum sauce). Didn’t get the red-wine-vinegar ’til it warmed. I can see why the LCBO suggests using this beer as a marinade. Also sweet fruit and a bit metallic. Okay, but not really what I’m looking for in a beer.
