| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours a medium reddish-brown, thin head, no real lacing. Nose is tart cherries, fudge/toffee, mild horseblanket, a bit brandyish. Palate is smooth and soft and mildly sour. Nice carbonation. Tasty and sharp, faintly metallic. Good, but not lifechanging. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 21, 2009 the Oude Brune! !2 oz into snifter. Very dark (but clear) brownish red body with a non-existent white head (I tired to pour aggressively to stir this one up, but with no avail). The aroma is OKAY, but too sweet for the style with a good amount of soy in there (which I am a huge NON-fan of). The flavor is totally inoffensive (even to BMC drinkers)... which is kind of a problem with this style. Where is the sour in this "sour ale"? There is a pinch of sweetness and tartness, but neither are strong enough to call this beer either sweet or tart... just kind of neutral. A hint of sweet cherries in there. Medium body with light carbonation. Overall: Fine, but nothing more. MiP (9093), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Bottle, 5.5%. The aroma is clearly metallic. Cloudy dark brown colour, red shine. Small light brown aroma. The flavour is slightly malty with a faint acidity. Tastes OK, but I would have liked it sweeter and more acidic. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
