Pours from the bottle a deep reddish brown with a beige, slightly fluffy head that sticks around for a while. Plenty of nice lacing in the glass. Slightly sour red wine aroma. Like the aroma, the sour presence in the flavor is mild and quite enjoyable, with a subtle bit of cherry in the malt. Not a complete pucker of a brew as far as the palate goes. Just a really well balanced sour brown. If you don’t typically reach for this style, you might want to rethink and give this one a try. Certainly more subdued than the deliciously evil, super-sour LaFolie Kevin from Paducah mentioned in his review.

I found myself really enjoying this and pleasantly suprised. A sharp aroma, almost vinous in stature it reminded me of sour cherries somewhat. Appearance was reddish brown. Flavor was oaky, sour, cherry tart, and tannic. VERY lovely beer that I will get again and again.

11.2 oz bottle via trade with Degarth! - Thanks Joe! - Pours a nice deep copper color with a bubbly tan head that fades back quickly to a film but laces some from there. Aroma is vinous with just a whiff of that oak barrel but actually somewhat subdued. Flavor is much less sour than I was expecting. Some vinegar notes and cherry, but also some vanilla, and oak there as well as a bit of raisin. Finish is where most of the sourness is, also very dry Palate seemed somewhat acidic, medium bodied, and actually somewhat watered down. Nothing overly impressive from this.

Smells great, tastes not so great. Pours dark brown. Aroma is nice subdued sourness with oaky hints. Flavor starts out nice and sour though quickly switches to cheapish malts with a slightly oaky finish. A touch oxidized as it warms.

Pours with a red body that hits ruby when held to the light and a thin quickly leaving head. Sherry aroma with something that makes me think cork even though this was capped. Vinous flavor that is dry with a black cinnamon raisin quality. Lingering light tartness in the finish. A very light sourness to this. I’m thinking of what lafolie would be like if it wasn’t soured as much. I think this would be close to it. A nice woody profile. Damn, I wish I hadn’t traded my last la folie. I want to do a side by side. Looks like a trip to st louis is in the future then. Ap- 3 ar- 4 tas-6 pal-3 ov-14

Beer pours a clear, medium-dark, reddish-chestnut color with a small, palest rose, frothy, average, mostly and quickly diminishing head. Some lacing left on the glass. The aroma is lightly malty with a notes of toasted grain, cookie and caramel; moderately yeasty with a note of cellar; miscellaneous notes are shy; fruity, sweet and vinous. Composed of moderately strong cherry and balsamic vinegar, and a slightly overwhelming moderate-to-strong note of copper/metal. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter with a short, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is average. Falls pretty darn short overall in complexity and interest in comparison to other FSA’s.

Dark-red with an off-white head. The aroma is malty with a hint of vinegar. Taste has slight sourness and bitterness: altogether quite gentle on the palate.
