Aroma is nice subdued sourness with oaky hints. Flavor starts out nice and sour though quickly switches to cheapish malts with a slightly oaky finish. A touch oxidized as it warms. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2006 Pours with a red body that hits ruby when held to the light and a thin quickly leaving head. Sherry aroma with something that makes me think cork even though this was capped. Vinous flavor that is dry with a black cinnamon raisin quality. Lingering light tartness in the finish. A very light sourness to this. I’m thinking of what lafolie would be like if it wasn’t soured as much. I think this would be close to it. A nice woody profile. Damn, I wish I hadn’t traded my last la folie. I want to do a side by side. Looks like a trip to st louis is in the future then.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 1, 2006 Beer pours a clear, medium-dark, reddish-chestnut color with a small, palest rose, frothy, average, mostly and quickly diminishing head. Some lacing left on the glass. The aroma is lightly malty with a notes of toasted grain, cookie and caramel; moderately yeasty with a note of cellar; miscellaneous notes are shy; fruity, sweet and vinous. Composed of moderately strong cherry and balsamic vinegar, and a slightly overwhelming moderate-to-strong note of copper/metal. The flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic and lightly bitter with a short, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is average. Falls pretty darn short overall in complexity and interest in comparison to other FSA’s. hughie (3082), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 12, 2006 The beer makes good its escape pouring a deep clear brown, the head is bountiful, creamy in texture and a winsome light tan in color, upon its dematerialization, the lace formed is a tight seal upon the glass. Nose is musty, with hints of molasses, malt and a bit of citrus like tartness; start is mild in sweetness, fair to middling grain presence, and the top light to moderate in its feel to the palate. Finish is sternly acidic, tart, quite dry and a magnificent beer. mephisto (1144), Taiwan
