| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2005 Bottle. Poured a clear, medium ruby with a rather short-lived beige head. I really enjoyed the aroma coming out of this... sour cherries, vinous notes, oak, and a little metal. Flavor didn’t have as much appeal... the same components were in there as the aroma, but flavors were rather muddled, most of the sourness seemed metallic, and it could’ve used a bit more carbonation. Finish was somewhat sticky with oak and sour berries. Decent for the style... but not any more. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 14, 2005 A very transparent, copper/mahogany with a quickish tan head. Plenty of funk in the aroma, vinous with sour cherry and a hint of oak. Mild, bittersweet and musty flavor (on the dry side) to start, but then the yeasts emerge in an explosively sour finish. Astringence abounds with acidity and prickly effervescence. Not sure why, but I feel rather perverted as I may be starting to enjoy this style.

Oh GOD, This is a sour freakin’ brew. Why oh god why? This could make me stop drinking. Even mouth fulls of salsa can’t was the rotten milk taste from my mouth. I usually research the brews before I sample, not this time. Dorqui (1365), Brescia, Italy
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 8, 2005 Creamy and much supporter foam, good persistence. Brownish red color, much loaded and hazy, impenetrable. Fresh acidulous scent, notes of wine cellar and red yield. Extremely pungent and lively taste. Not much round in the mouth, better to the nose. Notes of cherry and sour black cherry, not too much sour like other Rodenbach type. Medium end. blankboy (3260), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 24, 2005 Bottle. Pours a clear bubbly dark reddish-brown with a small diminishing light-brown head. The slightly sour and woodsy aroma of malt, fruit, spices and alcohol was not much to my liking. The flavour follows the aroma and is also quite sour but not in a good way, there’s something "off" about the sour taste -- I found myself wondering if I had a bad bottle but then I remembered it was like this last time I tried it as well. Mouthfeel was thin. Flemish Sour Ales are not my favourite kind of beer to start with but there are so many better ones than this one, I think my rating is fair as this beer is mediocre at best. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 18, 2005 An almost headless chestnut body gave off a strong aroma of sou/tart cherries and hints of oak. Pronounced carbonation. Medium bodied. The flavor was very sour, biting. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 17, 2005 Pours ruby with a 3-4 finger off-white head. The aroma is oaky malty, with nuts, bourbon, brown sugar, port, merlot, and some funk. This tastes initially like a slightly sweet Flemish sour, but gains a solid merlot flavor profile and palate feel, coupled with some oaky malts and berries. Very nice.
