Flavor is not as sour as aroma would indicate: instead, malty, with a little nuttiness, and very smooth. excellent flemish brown. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 7, 2005 Bottle. Looks dark brown, but held to the light, more of a ruby red. Small white head - long lasting. Cherries and some spiciness in aroma. Mouthfeel was thin and fizzy. Big strong sour cherry taste immediately, followed by slight bitterness. This also tastes like a strong beer, I had to check the alcohol to be sure. I thought it was a little thin tasting overall - not quite enough body to back the strong flavours up. There was also a slight bottle like quality to the whole package, like a slight bottle taste or something, even though the bottle appeared to be fresh and new. Overall, I found this far more drinkable that the Rodenbach Grand Cru I recently sampled, but it still isn’t one I’d reach for consistently. MrManning (1650), London, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 3, 2005 Pours a dark brown body, with a light brown frothy head. Lots of carbonatiopn here. That’s two beers from Petrus that are carbonation crazy. Aroma is sour grapes, a mild sweet hop aroma, and a musty woodiness. Taste is immediate sour/tart grapes, wood, and malt. Crisp and clean, leaving a sour and bitteraftertaste. Lots of carbonation felt on the way down as well. Nice! steve23mj (273), Essexville, Michigan, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2004 97 version. Pours dark red with little to no head. Nose is figgy and vinous. Flavor is sour and noticable presence of Belgian candi sugar. Mild sense of cherry flavor. Tart dry finish. asheft (1409), Marburg, Germany
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2004 Clear dark ruby-brown with a lasting blanket of a head. Fruity-sour aroma with a crisp vinegary aroma containing wood and a little horseblanket. Interestingly, the flavour does not reflect the vinegary aroma but has a refreshing cherry tartness and a very short-lived bitterness. Light to medium body with burting carbonation. Extremely clean and refreshing. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2004 Pours a clear ruby color with a thick off-white head. Woody aroma of cherries, very interesting. The flavor is sour and woody with cherries. Full body, lively carbonation. While not an great flemish sour, the oak barrel aging gives the beer a pleasant woody character wich boosts the enjoyment of the beer. biermonk (259), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2004 POured a dark ruby red with a decent sized off white head that lasted for most of the glass...Although the head retention is partly due to the etching on the bottom my tulip...Nevertheless the beer continuously emitted a distinct odor of cherries...Flavor was of Sour cherries but not overly sour quite pleasant in fact...Very sweet malt comes through leading into a slightly acidic finish...Body was a bit thin for my taste...I was suprised at how little of the oaking came through after 20 months...All in all a very decent beer
