planky84 (99), , Greater London, England Sep 16, 2009 Bottle from Utobeer market stall. Pours amber with a white head. Aromas of hops, citrus, stewed apples. Flavours of citrus, malts. Not much going on there. Finsihes mild and bitter. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Jul 12, 2009 Bottle. Twat exploded all over my floor on opening. What I could salvage didn’t impress me either. Gold with a thin white head after all that . Right showy little bastard he is. Not much happening here, light grass, little malt and some bitterness. Come on lads, poor showing. JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 9, 2009 Decent pour, medium bodied Belgian ale. Fruit, dough flavors and a medium bitterness all wrapped together. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Jul 6, 2009 20090706 11.2oz bottle from State Line. Orange amber color with lasting, lacing white head of uneven foam. Aroma is bready, apple pie, lightly sour. Mild yeasty flavors, musty, more cooked apple. Finish is uneventful, soggy, and with lingering oxidized flavors. Forgettable stuff. drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jun 10, 2009 another interesting brew. Got this bottle a while back, don’t remember exactly where or when. Upon opening, I had a gusher. Most of the head settle down to almost zero and no lace in the glass. Aroma is a bit tart, spicy, and mild. Flavor is similar, refreshing, a little malty and dry. Lots of carbonation, but still good body. Color is hazy dark amber. Finish is a malty clean slightly tart and has me looking for another swallow. Session beer. smith4498 (825), Miami, Florida, USA Jun 7, 2009 Pours cloudy amber color with off white head. Sweet malty aroma with a hint of mustiness. Flavor is malty and earthy with some caramel and dough. Medium body with soft carbonation. yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA May 31, 2009 Petrus Speciale Ale is a cloudly, light brown beer with a lumpy ecru head that has great retention and lacing. It has a fruity, estery aroma that’s sweet, with notes of dried fruit (raisins) and malt. It is medium bodied, flat and metallic, but reasonably smooth. It’s not bounding with flavor. It has decent bitterness and not the sweetness that I anticipated. It’s slightly fruity, but it’s mostly malt in the taste. The finish is astringent. I think this bottle was around for a while, hence the $1.98. Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA May 29, 2009 Pours a dark a lightly hazy reddish-amber color with a small but lasting, beige tinted head of foam. Sheety bands of lacing mark the glass initially, falling apart slowly. The nose is mostly sweet up front, caramel showing strong, with following notes of sourdough bread, musty funk, and hints of vegetal, vinegary tomato. The flavor isn’t quite as off-putting, with the caramel and dough notes sufficiently taming the weird, "dirty" must. Still, there’s an odd tomato or celery note buried within that is hard to shake. The palate is without major flaw, medium bodied and relatively balanced. This one is drinkable, but proves a little to weird for my liking.
