This is actually a very tasty brew. Probably the best I have had from this brewery. Very nice. Dorwart (1814), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 22, 2004 Decent white head with light carbonation. Reduces slowly and quickly reforms upon swirling. Nice fruity aroma with oranges and peaches. Bit of wheat and yeast also. Color is a cloudy gold. Flavor is fruity with a zippyness in the mouth from the carbonation. Dry and slightly bitter with a nice alcohol flavor. Not much spices present. Finish is warming from the alcohol with a nice dry mouth. A decent, fruity triple without all of the spice. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2004 Some dusty and pill bottle aromas. Odd but good nose. The appearance is a cloudy yellow. The flavor is sour lemons and vanilla. A pretty good funky triple. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2004 I guess, having paid what I did to acquire this at a specialty bar, I was expecting something more complex. This does have some sweet white wine (champagne?) notes and is quite dry for an abbey tripel. Some herbal, citrus, yeast notes. I recommend not including the yeast sludge at the bottom. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2004 Itty bitty bottle: Slightly hazed pale golden hue with small fading head and almost no lace. The aroma has notes of port wood, honeycomb, lemon butter, apricot, ripe tangerine, earthy and barnyard yeast esters, noble hops, clove, cardamom, and anise. The taste does not live up to the aroma but isn’t bad either. Very sweet initially with a fruit acidic following. Buttery midsection with a spicy and sublime bitter finish. The feel is sharp but missing that something. Okay but hoped for more. Maybe aging would have helped this beer.
