Perm (134), Tryon, North Carolina, USA Jun 2, 2008 OK, I’m reviewing the "Petrus Gouden Tripel," the one with the nice subdued label that says, "The key to Heaven" on it. I’m assuming this is the same thing (???). It would be a shame if it isn’t, because the beer that I had was absolutely incredibly delicious. I’d love to have someone shed some light on this for me!
Appearance: Gold in liquid form. A lovely Belgian head.
Aroma: Graham crackers, straw, apples, bananas
Taste: Citrus tartness. Solid and excellent. Leaves me craving more.
Palate: Refreshing. Quenching. Alcohol content is WELL hidden.
Overall: What can I say? Wonderful. Great with lemon coconut macaroons. Great with anything at anytime (not really, but I find this stuff incredibly satisfying.)
Serving type: bottle
drjay44 (104), USA Aug 20, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. Pours a froathy head which lingers as a thin layer, pale yellow, minimal nose, multiple spice layers, which roll over the tongue, tart, bitter finish. The spice layers were the strength, lots of carbonation dominated. Borresteijn (434), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle in Bruges. Golden colour, big fluffy white head. Aroma of fruits, slightly tart, spices. Flavour is malty sweet, fruity with a sourish finish. OK. the_federalist (198), Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bottle 750ml. Pours hazy and golden with an enormous loose white head. Aroma is spicy and fruity. Flavor is sweet and tart, and the finish, instead of being yeasty, is dominated by botanicals (citrus zest and corriander). A bit too sweet for me I’m afraid. padrefan98 (592), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Aug 6, 2008 Bottle shared at fordest house. I love this style and this one was very good. Loved the belgian spices. fordest (1684), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Small bottle. Lots of yeasty aromas and Belgian spices. Some vanilla and pepper on the flavor. Not too bad.
