Bad flavor at best, some vague fruitiness, but mostly it’s thin, harsh, and a bit toasty, quite skunked, tasting like a crappy cheap lager of some sort. I’d say this was a bad bottle, but lots of people seem to also think it’s crap. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA

Yeasty aroma with a hint of caramel and berries. Very sweet, thin malt taste. Over carbonated with tiny little bubbles.
Re-Rate. Pours a clear amber color with a big, frothy, ivory head. Rather faint malt aroma with yeast and fruit notes. Thick flavor with roasted malt, licorice, and fruit. Very metallic and dry. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 1, 2004 Draft at the Abbaye. Light brown ale, no head, no lace, nice carbonation. Flavor is thin, clean, and dry. A bit of a let down given that it is Belgian, on draft, and a winter seasonal. Nothing special here. JPDIPSO (4906), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Mild gusher. Completely fills my Duvel galss with a dark topaz liquid and BIG beige bubbles. Mild aromas of Pale malt, bananas, toffee and hints of iron. Lots of carbonization to this one, light and spritzy in feel, not te distracting kind of spritzy, more of the campagne type that gives the liquid life and lift. But the flavor could use a lift. Pale malt with a touch of lemon citrus and some iron. Not much to this one. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

The yeast here is actually surprisingly mellow in contrast to the rest of the flavor, which is fruity, musty, and a touch cidery. Slightly sour, but enough malt base to keep it grounded as well as keep it within the "holiday ale" spectrum. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
