Cletus (3602), Connecticut, USA Aug 24, 2008 Growler courtesy of lb4lb. Pours a hazy amber/copper with a decent white head. Smells of oranges, some resin, caramel. Tastes bitter and earthy with a citrussy finish.
lb4lb (1605), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 24, 2008 Pours a mostly clear gold color with a small head. Smell is mild and hoppy, fresh and clean. Taste is hoppy and lightly bitter with pine and citrus flavor, but without much body at all. Taste is too mild for an IPA. Not bad overall, just not very flavorful and too thin. Needs more of everything. ratman197 (2548), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jun 12, 2008 On tap @ Phantom Canyon poured a clear golden amber with a lingering ring of off white foam. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, carmel and lemon zest. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, pine, earthiness and light grapefruit with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish. luckygirl (1212), Longmont, Colorado, USA Mar 2, 2008 Draught at the brewery. Beer is moderately dark amber brown. Head is moderately large, creamy/frothy, tan, diminishing but mostly lasting. Nice lacing on the glass.
The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain, caramel and cookie; Hoppy with moderate notes of resin/pine, light notes of grapefruit oil, dried apricot, flowers; Yeasty with light notes of sweat and basement; Trace of vanilla.
The flavor is lightly sweet, lightly/moderately bitter with an average-length, moderately bitter/grippy, lightly sweet finish. Lingering grip on the tongue, unclean aftertaste.
The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is almost velvety.
Standard issue. bleeng (363), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Sep 7, 2007 On cask. Dark brown with a small and very leggy head. Strong hop nose but a bit thin on the palate. Strong alcohol flavor with a milkshake smoothness on the palate. Is there some spice in here. Overall an excellent beer.
