Commercial Description:
Joe is not your average beer. This ale is brewed with locally-roasted, fair trade coffee, Dark Munich and chocolate malts which combine to create a well-balanced, flavorful Porter with a fresh roasted coffee aroma. Good from the first drop. We use 2.5 pounds of coffee in each barrel of this robust porter. Available in both bottles and kegs for a limited time each fall and winter. 5% ALC/VOL

12oz bottle. Pours a deep coffee brown with a small beige head. Nice nose of fresh coffee and some faint notes of cocoa. Flavor was again mostly coffee with some additional espresso and a bittersweet chocolate finish. A pretty tasty coffee porter, no off flavors.

Bottle. Big, big, big aroma of coffee (grounds). Dark brown/pitch pour with an acidic light tan head. Watery thin body, very dry and coffee-inflected. Lightly metallic taste, very weak porter. Lightly sour and a touch of staleness. Base coffee needs improvement before I’ll jump onboard.

Soy black with 1 cm of lasting light brown head and strong lacing. Aroma is good middle of the road coffee, with slight sweetness. Taste is mild coffee with a slight astringency. Medium carbonation. $2/12

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a large creamy dark tan head. The aroma was dry, bitter and roasty coffee. The flavor was dry, roasty, toasty and bitter with fairly strong coffee and a touch of cream. The finish was medium length dry and bitter. A bit thin in body but smooth. Solid.

Coffee bean body topped with a small cream head. Deep roast barley fills the nose. Easy roast barley flavor with coffee ground finish. Smooth and simple. Slight burnt black patent character.
