illinismitty (1321), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 17, 2008 Draft at the Baltimore Airport location. Pours a translucent copper amber with an off white head. Faint aroma of aroma hops and crystal malt. Mouthfeel had somewhat of a commercial vibe to it. Flavor of caramel balanced by some spicy hops with a some subtle citrus undertones. Finish is bitter and semi dry, but had some astringency that I did not care for. Worth a try, but not mind blowing. Decent for an Amber and it does pair well with their food. pineypower (844), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Dec 30, 2007 Tap at Phillips Atlantic City. Pours out a nice copper color with small remnants of a white head. Aroma of some citrus hops and caramel. Taste is a nice balance of dry citrus hops and caramel, went very well with their crab cake, which in an aside I believe to be simply the best. nearbeer (1076), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Oct 3, 2007 Draft, Savannah and Charlotte airport restaurant locations. Clear, shiny copper-orange with a medium-sized and lasting head. Slight aroma of spicy caramel. Flavors of toasted nut and peppery spicy caramel. Great balance. Light-medium bodied and smooth with a dry tingle on the finish. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA Jan 18, 2007 On draft in a tall pilsener glass at the Phillips Famous Seafood restaurant in the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, Concourse C.
Pours a pale amber with a billowing ivory head. Smells of lightly sour, biscuity pale malt. No hops to be detected.
Taste is also far more malt than hops. Biscuity, lightly caramel tasting malt. that is not to say this is a bold, big beer by any means. Mouth is on the thin side with just a bit of wateriness in the finish. Lightly crisp and an easy drinker. Tasty enough and great with a crabcake! beervana (782), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Feb 7, 2006 (02.04.06) On tap at Philip’s Flagship seafood restaurant, Washington, D.C. This is a house ale brewed for Philips by Clipper City. Clear copper hued ale having an average sized white head with good lacing. Good carbonation. Hoppy aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with tiny malt sweetness and light hop flavor. Finishes dry with light lingering hop bitterness and pleasant corn aftertaste. Clean and refreshing. Goes well with seafood. An excellent amber ale, one of my favorite beers to enjoy with food.
