Pours a pale amber with a billowing ivory head. Smells of lightly sour, biscuity pale malt. No hops to be detected.
Taste is also far more malt than hops. Biscuity, lightly caramel tasting malt. that is not to say this is a bold, big beer by any means. Mouth is on the thin side with just a bit of wateriness in the finish. Lightly crisp and an easy drinker. Tasty enough and great with a crabcake! beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

This is a house ale brewed for Philips by Clipper City. Clear copper hued ale having an average sized white head with good lacing. Good carbonation. Hoppy aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with tiny malt sweetness and light hop flavor. Finishes dry with light lingering hop bitterness and pleasant corn aftertaste. Clean and refreshing. Goes well with seafood. An excellent amber ale, one of my favorite beers to enjoy with food. zach8270 (2121), Henrietta, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 6, 2005 Updated: Dec 12, 2008[bottle - 12 oz] Dark amber color with a creamy looking white head. Very floral and hoppy aroma with hints of grass, coriander and some citrus. The taste was slightly less hoppy than I would’ve expected from an amber ale. Nicely balanced between the hops and malt, with a decent little hop kick at the end. Very good session beer. hopscotch (5495), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The aroma is citrusy and floral with small notes of wet leather and black pepper. The flavor is well-balanced with a nice hop bite. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Crisp, mildly bitter finish. Refreshing. desurfer (1068), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Oct 28, 2004 Crystal clear amber colour with a super thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, nice bright hops, malt and some raisins-nice! Light-bodied; Sharp hop flavour up front with subtle malt and a light sweetness of caramel. Really, nothing in the aftertaste but a little cardboard maltiness. Overall, not the worst-but exactly what you’d expect from an amber! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 28-August-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. jasonp (1510), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2004 On tap at Phillips Harborplace in Baltimore. Pours a clear ruby amber with an off-white head. Taste is of caramel, butterscotch with a great hoppy and bitter finish. Moderately sweet. Mouthfeel is very full, round and creamy. Great lacing and head retention. Similar to SNPA. Contrary to other ratings, I happened to have a very good batch this time around. Nothing original, but a damn good, hoppy amber ale. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2004 Not particularly amber, pours to a more traditional IPA-esque vaguely hazy copper. Nose is hoppy, not too many malts. Flavor has some hops but not too much of a malt backbone.
