CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 19, 2007 Bottle sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of slightly oxidized toasty earthy caramel malt. Body starts with a touch of sweetness and fairly full toward a more bitter, toasty finish. Smooth, but could use a little more complexity. beerbuzzmontreal (2769), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 15, 2007 Clear brown pour with a thin beige head. Aroma and flavor of dark malt, alcohol and some sweetness. The body is light with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. goldtwins (3747), Nesconset, New York, USA Oct 5, 2007 Poured a mildly hazy ruby-brown color with a thin off-white head. The aroma is light, bland and mildly sweet. Light fruity flavor. Mostly dark fruits. Some bitterness on the "wet" finish. Nice warmth. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 20, 2007 Thanks to Oakes for sending this one out. Dark brown beer, thin head. Deep brown sugar sweetness. A soft raisin and spicy rye aroma. Nutty toasty malts. Fairly citric hoppiness, but the flavour doesn’t really deliver on the promise of the aroma. Hazelnuts and cherry with a fairly harsh astringency on the finish. Needs some work to really bring it together. notalush (2128), Rawn-kawn-kohma, New York, USA Sep 18, 2007 Thanks to JoeMcphee for sharing - clear amber beer with low carbonation - aroma of hazelnut, dough, cherries - zero carbonation in the mouth - sweet and acidic in equal measure - some nuttiness but not much else - some artificial-tasting sweetness in the finish - a little lifeless, but mildly tasty.
