Cask gravity at The Ship & Mitre pub beer festival, Liverpool. Gold, no head. Bit of butter maybe. OK this is definitely my last bitter today. It’s a bitter. Decent hop on finish. Butter/hop bitter.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Wenlock.
Orange gold with a thin white rim. Aroma is a little lacking in character but the reasonable lemony hops manage to hold the notes of diacetyl in check. Wheaty flavour with slight metallic notes and a rather harsh and raw finish.

Cask Handpump at the Marble Arch Inn, Manchester 23/04/2005 Clear golden coloured hoppy and slightly citrus flavour. Some dryness in a creamy malt finish.

Cask Conditioned at The Anchor, Birmingham. Pale gold beer with thin head. A palid looking beer with little nose and restrained on the taste buds. It does eventually get going into a fruity, grainy grassy flavour, but quite disappointing knowing the usual Phoenix range.
