BückDich (4491), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 28, 2008 Bottle: Lightly hazy orange blonde color, light puffy head and some lacing. Nose of light coriander, snappy thin noble hops and a grassy light spicyness which could be spices, could be yeast. The flavor is brittle with some light matiness bordering on caramel, a touch of butterscotch and some corianderness, finishes thin. Hmmm, not quite worth the price on this one. $7.99 for a 300ml? Hmmm.
BlackDonald (723), On a beer trip all over the USA, California, USA Jul 16, 2008 Pours a lovely golden honey color with a small ring of froth. Sweet but spicy floral nose reminiscent of gin, but without the harsh alcohol astrigency. Some citrus and fresh cut flowers as well. Honey sweet body, a hint of cereal grains and tobacco. A little too buttery and old world for my tastes, but still quite enjoyable. AmEricanbrew (816), Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Jul 8, 2008 Clear dark gold with a white head. Nice aroma is salty freshly chopped celery with tomato paste and pale bready malt, really not as bad as it sounds. Lightly carbonated with a smooth texture. Good flavors of grainy pale malt with dry hay and spices, another funky flavored Saison. enjoyed this one.
JoeMcPhee (3632), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jul 5, 2008 Tap at Blind Tiger. Deep golden-amber beer. Thin white head. Aroma is quite nice. Rich clovey spice with cinnamon and a rich fruity character. Orange, cherry, blueberry and a soft spiciness as well. Flavour is quite rich, but the beer is still pretty well-attenuated. Orange peel, toast and a lingering wheaty spicy flavour. Lingering berries and herbs. Lightly minty and herbal on the back. As it warms, the yeast gets quite spicy and reminds me of Unibroue... continues to evolve and becomes more fruity as it continues to warm. MI2CA (1033), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jul 1, 2008 11.2oz - thanks SoLan - Aroma of doughy yeast and grassy hops with a sharp spicy nose of coriander, juniper and pepper. Pours cloudy brown with a medium head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma. Palate is creamy and tart. Not a "funky" saison, but it is spicy and refreshing. A great summer beer. UselessGdTaste (352), Long Beach, California, USA Jun 3, 2008 I really enjoyed the drinkability of this representation of a saison. Usually, I am turned off by a lot of the odd flavours present. However, I know that that is exactly what a lot of people look for in a saison. I think this is a completely delicious, refreshing, and drinkable version of this style.
