michael-pollack (2598), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 2, 2009 Draught at BrewPub (which called this beer an Imperial Red Ale): Aroma of hops, Amarillos out the wazoo, and light pine. Poured muddy brown/orange/very deep amber in color with a very small, off-white head that lasted as a film on top of the beer. Opaque. Lightly sparkling. Very good lacing. Flavor is light to medium bitter, and slightly sweet. tastes of hops, Amarillos, and slight malts. Medium body. Dry texture. Average carbonation. Lightly dry, Amarillo and slight malt finish. 7.5%ABV is totally hidden. satan165 (540), River Grove, Illinois, USA Nov 1, 2009 Updated: Nov 6, 2009ultra unfiltered body, quite apple cider like. had to check with the server to make sure this was its normal appearance -- ive had many unfiltered brews but this one suffers as a result, extremely murky. nose is IIPA fruits, nearly muted. flavor is great balance of crunchy toffee and big hops, grapefruit and soured lime. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 15, 2009 tap at piece...darkl mostly murky raisin brown pour with a thin soapy light beige head... softer sweet floral hop aroma with a backdrop of caramel malt... flavors of sweet citrusy hop with just the slightest hint of bitterness in the finish. medium carbonation. nice dipa but generally a little too sweet and could have used more bitterness. drinkable but prefer piece’s other dipa offerings. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland May 11, 2009 Tap at Piece Post DLD ... light fruity hop nose .. sweet sweet juicy fruits ... mellow soft mouthfeel ... bi too bitter in linger. daknole (2800), Plantation, Florida, USA Apr 28, 2009 Draft at Piece. HOPS! Amber pour. Small head. Damn the hops fill your nose with their earthy and citrus wonder. You get notes of the malt but the hops dominate. The flavor leans to a big hop bomb but is tamed by a solid core of caramel malts and some good fruitiness. Good stuff. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2009 On tap at Piece. Poured hazy deeper amber with a short cap of oaky-hued head. The aroma was a delightful hop bomb filled with pine, grapefruit, and grassy notes.. sweeter caramel backing picked up medium-skinned fruits as it warmed.. well-presented. The flavor was spicy and increasingly assertive as it warmed up.. caramel at the core supported floral, pine, and cat pee bitterness.. very long, warming finish. Rather sweet and grainy on the malt front along with heavy bitterness on the palate.. only decent flow.. warm, kinda boozy finish.. solid overall. JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Jan 9, 2009 On tap at Pizza Port, left over from the strong ale fest. Light amber pour with white head. Quite bitter, floral, citrus, and biscuits and caramel malt. Very hop forward beer, but also has this kind of funky flavor that I cant put my finger on. It’s alright, nothing great. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Dec 19, 2008 On tap at Piece. Amarillo Brillo has a pleasing mouth-puckering bitterness and a rush of resin and citrus flavours. However, like a lot of strong, hoppy American beers it somewhat neglects subtlety and any attempt at maltiness.
