On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival. Poured a deeper and lightly hazy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of floral hops, citrus, and pine. Tastes of pine, citrus, floral, and toasted caramel.

Kind of a murky brownish look to it with an off-white head. Full of PNW hops in the nose, overpowering the caramel malts to be found in the taste. Nice lingering bitter finish that’s always a pleasure to this hop-head. Worth repeating.

Deep burgundy red to brown with a nice light creamy moka head. Wonderful hoppy aroma, floral and herbaceous, very pungeant. In mouth, caramel malt with loads of c-hops, pleasing and much in stule to I2PA. Rich bodied, with funky hops remaining, not cloying. On tap at Piece, Nov. 12, 2005.

Tap: I had written down IIPA or Strong Ale (?) and that does seem to be the question on the already posted ratings. It had a hazy reddish hue with a small but lasting head and some lace. The aroma has a big hoppy quality of pine, grapefruit and lemongrass with additional features of toasted and bready malts, moderately earthy as well. The taste has a refrained bitterness and displays very good balance. Fruity and piney with a grainy background. The feel is lively and twangy, quite quaffable and refreshing for something this large. Overall, I say it is a Imperial IPA, but then the lines are quite blurred anyway. Tasty and enjoyable and that is all that matters to me in the end.

On tap at Piece. Poured hazy deeper amber with a short cap of oaky-hued head. The aroma was a delightful hop bomb filled with pine, grapefruit, and grassy notes.. sweeter caramel backing picked up medium-skinned fruits as it warmed.. well-presented. The flavor was spicy and increasingly assertive as it warmed up.. caramel at the core supported floral, pine, and cat pee bitterness.. very long, warming finish. Rather sweet and grainy on the malt front along with heavy bitterness on the palate.. only decent flow.. warm, kinda boozy finish.. solid overall.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown-orange color. head was off white with a slight yellowish tint. Some lace was left behind on the glass at the end. Attractive and well balanced aroma of caramel, rich toffee, and citrusy hops. Slightly sweet and medium bodied with mild hop bitterness. The flavor was dominated by citrus (orange, grapefruit, and lime) with a buttery molasses malt flavor. Good beer.

Draft at Piece. HOPS! Amber pour. Small head. Damn the hops fill your nose with their earthy and citrus wonder. You get notes of the malt but the hops dominate. The flavor leans to a big hop bomb but is tamed by a solid core of caramel malts and some good fruitiness. Good stuff.
