American pint glass at the brewery. Cloudy yellow color with a little orange and no head. Aroma is orange, lemon and some sweetness. Flavor is sweet like sugar, not malt but you can taste the grains as well, nice slight hop taste, and ofcourse banana. Creamy, med body. I’m normally not a fan of this style of beers but found it to be very enjoyable and ofcourse drinkable.

On tap.
(Notes from summer 2006.) Pours moderately cloudy with a persitent white head. Aroma is fruity, lightly citrusy, hop-flowery, grassy and grainy. Flavor is citrus-fruity up front, not as tart or bold as a hefe; and then a crisp, prickly hop bitterness rushes up out of nowhere. Thinnish, bubbly palate. This beer aims for the middle and hits its mark. A good lawnmowing/summer-sipping beer.

Light, unfiltered-lemonade in color. Yeasty-wheat aroma. Decent wheat-yeast taste that finished smooth, but it was a little cold outside for a beer like this......

Tap at brewery: Poured slightly hazy with a solid ring of foam and okay lace. The aroma has notes of lemon and orange zest, clove, wheat, and a touch of sweet honey. The flavor is citric and wheaty and a mild spice finish. A interesting addition of what appears to be piney American hops on the finish. Missing the depth of the Top-Heavy Hefeweizen (along with the yeast character I love). The feel is very lively and crisp but a tad watery. A standard average American Wheat.

tap at piece. uncomplicated, straightforward, watered down. the color suggests cloudy urine. tastes, i guess, like lemon or lemongrass. surprisingly uninspired offering.

On tap at Piece. Poured a hazy straw golden with a short white head. Lots of lemony-wheat, candy sweetness, and a bit of banana in the nose. Lemon tartness and Lemonhead sweetness in the flavor, with an odd undertow that I couldn’t place. Odd, almost slimy feel on the palate. I just didn’t click with this one.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a light, hazy yellow. Seems a bit watered down without much flavor until a bit of a stale aftertaste shows up. Stick to the Top Heavy Hefe instead.

What could be better than a hopped-up wheat? Citrusy; orange, apricot, grapefruit. Abnormally refreshing. I like the spritziness of the mouthfeel, too. These guys are making some very cool brews.
