On cask at Night of the Living Ales IV. Pours a brown black with a beige head. Smoked, roasted, and chocolate malts in the nose. Lightly sweet flavors. Chocolate, roasted, and smoked malts. Simple aroma and flavor but done extremely well.

From the cask @ Night of the Living Ales. Kind of sad that I finally get around to rating this beer here when I just live a couple blocks from Piece. Dark brown with tan head. Nose is pretty smokey. Nice porter though. The flavor also is smokey, roasted malts, and a little chocolate. Nicely done.

on tap at piece. pours dark brown with biege head. nose is very smokey meats and some roast. flavor is pretty roasty, smoked meats, and mild chocolate notes. a fizzy and full mouth feel. seemed a little overly roasty for a stout but this is really tasty nonetheless.

It’s kept dark in the brewpub, so the best I can really say is the beer was dark. Maybe dark brown, maybe black. Nice creamy head. Maybe brown or tan or beige. Good lacing. The aroma is chocolatey and roasty, dark malts and a light smokiness. The smoke, although quiet, step up more in the flavor, nicely complementing the malty sweetness. It finishes on a dry note, smokey with a roasted bitterness. Nice brew.

Out of a take home growler. Dark black pour, tan colored head that dissipates slowly. Medium body & flavor of roasted malts & chocolate. A little lighter than the Flat Iron Stout but equally delicious!

Growler @ Pre RBSG. Black pour with a tan head. Aroma of sweer smoke, chocolate, roasted malt and a hint of cinnamon. Flavors of roasted malt, light wood and chocolate. Medium body, roast/sweet with a roast finish. Nice.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/20/07: Pours a mostly opaque dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate malt with a nice touch of dark fruits and roasty grain. Body starts with nice full dark caramel sweetness and good, smooth, lightly bitter balance. An enjoyable porter.

black, wispy beige head, drops of lace, dry dark chocolate aroma with a strong roasted character, rich dry dark chocolate flavor, plenty of roasted and a dose of bitterness keeps it dry, some milky sweetness comes in a second wave turning the dark chocolate into milk chocolate,

Rating: 3.4/5.0
