Piece Capn Kickass IPA

GABF 2009, first beer fro Piece. Great beer. Huge hop flavor. PNW hop bomb, perfectly balanced bitterness & malty richness. Creamy mouhfeel. Big hop filled nose. One of my favorite @ GABF!!!

Tap at the brewpub: Slightly hazy copper with a dense lacing off white consistent film of head. Very nice fruity hop nose- cascade and amarillo hop presence with a grapefruit, peach and lemon cookie richness meshing with rich resins. Creamy body with nice mild carbonation. The flavor is grapefruity, with lemon cookie notes and just enough pale crystal malt to sustain a balancing body. Has a long and resiny finish. A nice richly balanced IPA.

Beer #33 of 42 at GTMW, 8-8-09. Nice dark amber brown, light bubbles, thin head. Catty and pineapple Amarillo hop smell. Amarillo all over the taste, and that’s what hopheads like. What the hell, I love it.

On tap at Piece. Pours amber with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is of hops, grapefruit, pine, and malt. Smells very juicy with lots of citrus. Taste is of bitter, juicy hops, pine, and slight alcohol. Has a base of caramel malt. The hops seemed all for bitterness and not for taste. Lingering hop burn. Mouthfeel is dry and very carbonated. Something in this beer made it not work for me, I had trouble putting it down. It’s not bad, it just didn’t sit well with me.

Tap at Piece Post DLD ... hazy amber ... big bright hop ... little sweet nose ... big big big pink grapefruit ... jucy and rich.

On tap at the brewpub 4/27/09. Pours a hazed orange amber with an off white creamy head. Tons of juicy grapefruit and pine in the nose with rich caramels. Grapefruit and pine flavors. Fresh and abundant with caramel malts and a grassy grapefruit finish. Fresh and tasty beer.

More hops on tap at Piece!! Amber pour wtih a light head. Tons of grapefruit peel and caramel malt in this one. Its very straighforward, but in a good way. The grapefruit and lemon are easy to taste and the caramel malt does its job well.

Pours murky muddy copper-brown with no head. Ig bad nose of dank piny hops. Hops are more restrained but still plenty flavorful. Medium body with a big bitter finish. An IPA lovers IPA.
