Piece Capn Kickass IPA

I went there tonight to get the Jockey Full of Bourbon, which was already out :( The Kickass is..well pretty kickass. Pours amber with a medium white head. Nice citrus and pine aroma. Pine and citrus dominate the flavor as well. Oily mouthfeel, but still very enjoyable. I should have picked up some Pizza also.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark amber with a medium white head. Has a very green hop aroma to it. Just delightful. Very citrusy and pine-like in scent. The flavor is like sucking on a half of hop grapefruit. Medium thick body seems to support this level of hops adequately without suppressing anything with the sweetness of too much malt. This is a really GOOD brewpub IPA.

draft at brewpub. hard to see. dark red toffee with decent opacity. smell is all grapefruit hops. and some hard candy. taste is very malty sweet, most of the flavor is from the hops. super fruity. like hard rock candy. super mild and drinkable.

This was a quite bitter glass of beer. Reminiscent of amarillo brillo, but more bitter. needs some more malt perhaps, but overall, a quaffable pint.

on tap at piece. pours that piece hazy a dark golden color with off white head. nose has lots of pnw hops and notes of grapefruit. flavor is piney bitter, fruits of peach, grapefruit, and citrus. a nice fruity and bitter iipa. very tasty.

On tap at Piece. Poured a clear medium golden with a short cap of off-white head. Nose was heavy on the citrus and pine hoppage with sweet, rum-laced caramel backing it... full and engaging. Hefty sweet caramel and lighter fruits (peach and apricot) at the core.. juicy with a higher level of bitterness to it. Creamy and juicy on the palate with a hair over medium-body on it.. full of flavor and had a nice flow to it.

Excellent nose...very robust PNW hopping...all grapefruit and pine boughs. Inviting as hell. The first flavor is a big malty mess of caramel and toffee...but this shifts instantly to the hop slap of citrusy-pine oil that assails the tongue with a sharp and piercing stab of bitter goodness. Very refreshing and well paired with a Conneticut-style red pizza with bacon, banana peppers and spinach. (Shut up and try it!)

Another well constructed beer by these guys. Citrusy hop goodness. I love this place.
