Draft... DLD06... Deep, dark lager with a small, creamy, beige head. Decent retention. The aroma is roasted, smoky and chocolatey. The flavor is an almost perfectly balanced blend of dark chocolate, caramel and coffee. Toasty and malty. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter. Medium to full-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Balanced, chocolatey, then bitter finish.

This pours a murky dark brown with a skinny tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, roasted barley, and a big splash of chocolate. Nice carbonation. The flavor is rich ’n’ roasty with chocolate and a bit of toffee. This has more ale qualitites than those of a Schwarzbier, but as Piece says, "It’s a dark bier." Not bad.

A clear copper ale with a thin moka head. In aroma, a nice caramel malt, light molasses note. In mouth, a rather light schwarzbier, with light sweet caramel, very thin. So-so. On tap at brewpub, May 18 2009.

Draft at Brewery: Deep brown and nearly opaque boby with a small but lasting tan head and okay lace. The aroma has notes of toffee, roasted and burnt malts, coffee, hint of raisin, and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts malt but is never sweet as a hefty dose of bitters , coffee and smoke rush upon the palate. The feel is crisp and displays a slight bite upon the finish. A nice brew and worthy of a try.

From a growler at Goose Island Stoutfest. Poured a very deep brown with a medium creamy yellowy-beige head. Light burnt coffee, baker’s chocolate, and faint fruit in the nose. Flavor picked up the exact same stuff. Almost grainy on the palate with a nice burnt malt feel to it. Carbonation was low. This was just OK on all fronts.

This draft brew poured a small sized head of finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was opaque and dark black in color. Its aroma contained notes of very mild malts and was almost non-existent. Its mouth feel is initially very tingly with a lingering tingly palate and a mild brown beer aftertaste. Its flavor contained malty dark brown malt notes. .

Draft at Piece Brewery & Pizzeria. Small tan head that mostly diminished, fine-small sized bubbles, sparse lacing, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Aroma was malty, roasty, some chocolate, and smokey. Flavor was lightly hoppy and malty. Smooth palate. Medium body.
