Piece Double D Weiss

Creamy malts and hints of citrus. Yeasty with bread and banana notes, medium length.

At tap @ Piece. Dark thick brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is of banana and cloves. Sadly, the beer smelled better then it tasted. I thought it had a little too much carbonation.

on tap at piece. pours murky brown with tan head. nose of cloves, banana, and rum raisins. flavor has nice dark fruits, touch of chocolate, and cloves. palate is a bit short. lively carbonation. tasty indeed.

Served in a 12oz. footed weizen glass, cute. Aroma of banana, clove, munich malt, and a faint bubblegummy finish. Hazy brown with a dense tan lingering head. Banana and esters on the palate initially then the flavors of dark wheat and malt present themselves; finishing with the flavor profiles of weizen yeast. For a double dunkel it’s quite refreshing and inviting!

Draught. Pours cloudy dark brown with a spare fizzy off-white head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, toffee), average hops (grass), heavy yeast (dough) with notes of banana and pineapple. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity and bitterness; nice roasted nutty and caramel flavor.

Draft at Piece. I’m told "Double D" refers to it being a "Double Dunkel Weizen." An Imperial Bock, if you will. Pours an intense dark body in a midget weizen glass. The head disappeared in the time it took me to try my "Dark Bier" taster. Big big big big big weizen smell. Taste is of a Bananas Foster, extra rum, please. Then there’s plenty of wheat beir texture, too. A little spice, a lot of alcohol, esters and a touch of dark malt. A Hacker-Pschorr’s evil twin. Finished with a touch of brandy aftertaste.

Pours out looking like iced tea with a modest, bubbly beige head. The aroma is of rusty wheat with old bananas. Acutually quite tasty, a soft caramel with wheat tartness, banana, and lemon zest. Sweet, watery finish. Fairly decent.

Draught, early 2006: dark orangey brown with an off tan head. Sour, sweet, tart and mushy banana aroma…slightly astringent palate with a fairly strong, bitter banana overtone mostly covering the bitter pine needles and lemon zest flavours. Not quite as good as I would have anticipated, missing the flavour complexity from Piece’s other great Weiss beers.
