Growler courtesy of BBB63. Brilliant copper with huge white head. Aroma is all hop bitterness with minimal malt detectable, one way, but in a good way. Tons of citrus and tropical fruits. Flavor much the same, pineapple, mango, tangerine up front, fades to some light toasted grains, but still don’t get the heavy malt dose typical in an ASA. Sort of a sessionable ASA if that makes sense.

Draught at the brewpub
Cloudy light amber color. Nice hoppy aroma, less malty and more fruity than the Camel Toe. Medium body strength, malty, extremely hoppy. Similar to Camel Toe, just less strong and sweet, but as much hopped, fruity, resiny. Excellent.

Draught 12/1/2007. I think they changed this beer because I was told the Dysfunctionale was an IPA and that is definitely what I got. Soapy white lacing head clear amber body good lacing. Smells a bit soapy piney, flavor is potent dry hops nice dry lingering bitterness. No floral sweetness, a very dry good IPA. Med body.

Last beer of the night at piece so it is certainly not optimal testing. But even given that this was one ballsy brew. Loved the aggressive hops. It was like a slightly lighter colored version of arrogant bastard. If you have never been to Piece- you must go!

Tap. Pretty good. Hoppy finish that ends in marmalade. Nice and clean, but a little ordinary. Still, nice.

on tap. i think this beer as changed because it’s clearly an IPA, no? and the color in the picture is much darker than what i got. anyways, the beer is seriously under-rated. pours dense golden with white head, a very fruity hop nose to it. the flavor is nice and bitter with tropical fruit hop notes. hoppy and really drinkable. any brewery would love to have something like this as their flagship beer.

Tap at the Brew Pub, Chicago. When asked on the styles, this was described as an IPA. Pour is a nice hazy deep copper with a medium sized head that faded fairly quickly. Aroma is hops, mostly grapefruit and citrus. Taste starts with some citrus, rounds into a nice malt backbone/middle and finishes with a nice hop bitterness. Really nice beer, that went well with the meatball and banana pepper pizza I was working on. I actually do think this is closer to IPA than ASA, though not sure what the ABV is.
