michidan07 (22), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Aug 2, 2006 A bitter? More of a brown, really. This is a fantastic beer, and if understood in the context of a brown, it’s even better. Full bodied, dry, with a bitterness like oak and coffee. Eyedrinkale (3102), Beer Town, New York, USA Apr 25, 2008 Brown with a tiny head. When you drink it, you would never guess its a bitter. Tastes like like a nut brown. A decent beer for a beer, as its nutty and sweet. Caramel and peanuts. the rating is for the beer, not for the style its supposed to be. kwoeltje (1205), Manchester, Missouri, USA Jun 25, 2005 Lovely deep copper color. Very little head. Nice lace on glass. Malt aroma. Full bodied. Nice balance of malt and hops in the flavor. Hints of caramel. Nice bitter. JMerritt (1106), Macomb, Illinois, USA Dec 27, 2005 Dark copper, almost cherry wood color with an off-white head that is mostly lasting. Grainy, sweet wheat aroma. Sweet grains, rye, caramel candies and oatmeal cookie flavor. Finish is doughy and long lasting. Very tasty. Jokes (1449), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 2, 2004 Thick, brown body with a small, persistent white head. The hops have a nice citrus aspect, though the true aspect of this beer is the malt. Slightly roasted with toffee, smooth nuts, dark, wheat bread and whole grains. The body is smooth and full, especially for the low alcohol. The flavors, again, show the strength of the malt, with hops at the very end, just to whet the appetite. A nice surprise.
