JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 14, 2009 Orange/amber color with a small head of off-white bubbles. Aromas of pale malt and orange blossoms. Dry toasted malt with a bit of corn silage in the flavors. The ambers are not friendly tonight. Somewhat earthy and a bit of tartness. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 27, 2009 Bottled. Poured lighter amber with a well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up very sweet caramel and nutty notes with light floral, honey, and chocolatey accents.. almost soda-like. The flavor was sweet as well with nutty notes leading.. tartness surrounded, but I couldn’t place it.. again some chocolate and honey.. finished quick, but tacky. Lighter-bodied with rather high carbonation on the palate.. grainy, especially as it warmed up.. not a whole lot of goodness here, but it was non-offensive. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Sep 25, 2009 12 oz bottle via trade with Soonah, thanks John. Despite coming packaged snug and secure this bottle leaked out about an ounce or two so I drank it as soon as it was chilled. The bottle opened with lots of fizziness and poured with decent head so I don’t think the leaking effected it much at all. Aroma was really fruity with underlying chocolate notes. Body was thin with light bubbly carbonation. Flavor was lots ofchocolate with light citrus and cereal grain, perhaps some nutts as well. Interesting but seemed more like a pale ale to me. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 18, 2009 Amber with an active a quickly dissolving off-white head. Minimal haze and average looking. Aroma of artificial caramel, mild grains and light herbal hops. Taste of heavy caramel and malt, nuts along with a cola-like feel and finish. Just a hair of bitterness and a fizzy mouth feel on this one. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Sep 13, 2009 Sampled during the Autumn Brew Review in Minneapolis, MN as Choc Pietro Piegari Amber. Pours a clear golden amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some light roasted nuts, flowery hops and a touch of chocolate. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, some flowery hops a touch of roasted nuts and spice. Finish is slightly metallic with some flowery hop and malt aftertaste. jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Sep 6, 2009 Amber coloured body with a thinnish slightly off-white head. Aroma of malt, raisins, nuts and cardboard - not too pleasant. Medium-bodied; Sharp acidic flavour with metal and nuts tucked into the malty and overly cardboardie taste. Aftertaste shows metal and malt, caramel and a bit of alcohol. Overall, not such a great beer - more malty and metallic than anything else. Good to drink as you cut the grass, but not much more than that. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Broadway Wine Merchants in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 31-August-2009, sampled on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 05-September-2009. jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Aug 24, 2009 Pours a nice ruddy brown with a dense head. Light aroma, typical caramel and a bit of fruit jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2009 Bottle from soonah. Pours a nutty grassy aroma and the color is a translucent dull brown. Roasty chocolate flavor is a little unexpected but tasty. Decent body. Finish is bitter roasted malt.
