Very nutty hint of oak- Definately some smokey character, midpalate its very malty and smooth. Lighter then what im used to for a scotch, but tastey and creamy all the way through on the palate. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 16, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear deep amber color with a medium thin and creamy beige head that recedes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, hops and caramel. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, caramel, and hops. Light smoke in the background as well. The finish is rich and sweet with a lingering caramel malt aftertaste. Above average all around. killjoy966 (219), Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 29, 2008 Pours a fairly clear burnt siena color. Tastes malty sweet but is subdued compared to the predominantly smoky nature of the beer. My first introduction to scotch ales and certainly not my last. ditmier (1059), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2008 Draught @ City Grill - Pretty mild aroma of yeast and grain, flavour is simply toasted malts and slight hay. The alcohol wasn’t overt for me, rather like I was aware of its presence but didn’t notice it. It might have been because the restaurant was pretty crappy and watering down the beers, but it was still enjoyable. I liked this beer... mabel (2590), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
