killjoy966 (215), Washington, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a fairly clear burnt siena color. Tastes malty sweet but is subdued compared to the predominantly smoky nature of the beer. My first introduction to scotch ales and certainly not my last. ditmier (1021), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 15, 2008 Draught @ City Grill - Pretty mild aroma of yeast and grain, flavour is simply toasted malts and slight hay. The alcohol wasn’t overt for me, rather like I was aware of its presence but didn’t notice it. It might have been because the restaurant was pretty crappy and watering down the beers, but it was still enjoyable. I liked this beer... mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 3, 2008 [1097-20080216] Tap @ Pike brewpub (Seattle, WA). Toasted bread yeast aroma. Clear, dark amber red body with a medium-lasting creamy white head. Fruity roasted malt flavour with a sweet finish and eventually noticeable alcohol. Medium body is thick. Nice malt. HughConway (364), Alabama, USA Mar 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours brown with minimal head that quickly disperses. Nice malt aroma. Flavors of roast and malt with alcohol taste. Bit light in body. thooper41 (384), Oregon, USA Mar 3, 2008 12oz bottle: pours amber brown with minimal offwhite head, aroma of malty with hint of hops, flavor malty somewhat harsh and a slight roasted flavor, almsot tasted somewhat watered down. nothing special. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Jan 29, 2008 Poured amber from 12 ounce bottle. Sweet, winey, nice balance. Minimal head and lacings. A fine tasting brew. Malts are dominant. My first Scottish Ale. Would love to sample on tap. Recommended. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Jan 21, 2008 Draft at Pike Pub & Brewery, Seattle, WA. Tan head that was mostly lasting, very nice lacing, no visible carbonation, transparent, and an orange hue. Nose was malty, hop notes and a pinch of smokiness. Flavor was sweet, malty and hops. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Was looking forward to this one for the style, but ended up disappointed with the flavor. Needs some umph added to it. cblado (146), Wisconsin, USA Jan 15, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep ruby with slight head, looks delicious. Aroma is floral, hint of berry perhaps. Flavor has a robust malty nose, but finishes rather mildly. I could drink this all day, honestly, because it feels much lighter than it is. All in all not a bad little souvenir from my trip to Seattle.
