| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 19, 2007 Bottle. Extremely malty aroma, faint smoke and peat with light fruitiness. Copper-amber body with a rocky tan head and medium-strong carbonation. Crisp, slightly sharp taste, caramel malt dominant. Peat recession, but the fruitiness remains. Medium body with lingering caramel aftertaste and a faint touch of sourness. Solid and balanced, a good but not great one. Thanks, Jake! bhensonb (4245), Woodland, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Strong caramel aroma. Maybe hop peaked through; or not. Copper color with a white head that rapidly filmed out, though it left hints of lace. Medium bodied. Pretty foamy. Starts a bit non-descript, but malt definitely shows up as the carbonation leaves. Which thins the body. Not really getting smokiness. Lightly hopped it is. Very. The finish is actually a bit dry, if you wait for the malt to drain away. It leaves a warm sensation in the tummy, but little, if any, bitter in the mouth. Sort of a standard alcohol scotch style, with perhaps standard malt, but it just seems a bit bland (to plagiarize from puzzl). puzzl (2619), New York, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2007 Bottle from someoneorother. This actually has a very enchanting, unique, subtle aroma. Grapefruit sweetness, cinnamon, and cherry pits abound, with great complexity and depth. Doesn’t really hold up, though. There is a definite soda-pop kinda flavor straight out, and the finish is malty and chewy and a little bland. MartinT (5050), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 12, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Uninvited brettanomyces spikes the frail toffee and orangey fruitiness walks about drunkenly. This is either an off batch or a scotch ale that does not age well at all.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the cloudy amber.
-Dusty yeast roams about.
-The body is thin (eaten by the wild yeast infection?) and the carbonation too prickly for the style.
-Even if you took away the infection, I don’t think you’d end up with a malt fest worthy of the best scotch ales.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 10, 2007 Bottle poured an amber color with a slightly off-white head that diminished to nothing. Strong, roasted malt aroma. Highly carbonated and flavors of malt, toffee, nut and that added roasted or smoke presence. Pretty mediocre, I haven’t had many scotch ales so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. Hoss (602), Florida, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2007 Thanks to Carter for tihs bottle. Reddish amber color with no head at all. A little sweet malt with earthy notes. Don’t get much hops. Rather flat...maybe oxidized. Caramel and mushrooms on the finish.
