Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Feb 24, 2007 Bottle, Brewery Creek Dark golden-amber colour. Toasty, caramelly, mushroomy earthiness in the aroma. Flavour starts woody - this is both anglohop and toasty malt - and gathers up a little bit of brown sugar sweetness as it goes. Too damn clean for style. Finishes more caramelly and mushroomy than anything else, like you caught the ovation but missed the show. LyndaNova (492), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 24, 2007 Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear pale amber color with minimal ivory bubbles, mostly around edges. Rich malts, alcohol notes, light smoke and dough. Light bodied and smooth with a creamy texture and ample carbonation. Ending is lightly malty sweet with notes of caramel. Volgon (2487), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 23, 2007 Bottle Sweet and sour aroma with a cloudy body and a thin head, medium bodied, stale ending, starts and ends lightly sour. TipsyMcStager (900), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Feb 20, 2007 Pungent caramel aroma. Pours a slightly cloudy copper, thin head. Very malty with sweet finish. Some alcohol as well. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 12, 2007 Draught sampler at the brewpub. Ruby-copper colour. Sweet nose with a slight smokiness. Nice, full mouthfeel. Interesting sweetness in the flavour - fruity and a bit peaty with a herbal finish. Yeah, I like. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 23, 2007 Lightly hazed brown copper, thin head, decent lace. Aroma of tangy fruit and light caramel malt. Flavor is bolder than the aroma - caramel malt is prevalent. Refreshing tangy fruit around the edges. Citrus hops flavor is in the background, but very complimentary. Nice balance. Body north of medium, moderate carbonation. Smooth drinking. DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Jan 19, 2007 Orange-brown, slightly hazy, moderate cream coloured head. Aromas of citrus hops, wet leaves, and an earthy, peaty undertone. Surprisingly hoppy palate, almost tangy, with the healthy helping of malt as promised. Pleasantly earthy and sweet. Easy on the peat, which is a good thing. Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 11, 2007 A hazy amber beer with a lazing light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of ginger and caramel, while the flavor is sweet fruity combined with notes of ginger, leading to a dry and slighlty bitter end.
