Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 11, 2007 Bottle. Amber colour with a tan head. Sweet caramel malty, light fruity, belgium yeast aroma and taste. Medium body with a dry fruity finish. I like the fruityness that I think comes from the yeast, that might be a Belgium yeasy? Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Jan 2, 2007 12 oz bottle from Liquid Solutions. Very low intensity aroma smells vaugely of bready malts and little else that I can detect. The body is a soft orange/amber with a diminishing white head that is less than pinky thickness.

Sorta grain husk like fore tastes more like a lightly hopped pale ale. Some caramel malt almost makes a play, but this is mostly a cereal grain affair. Where is the peat, sweet malt and ale esters? This tastes like liquid rough bread. It’s not bad tasting it just doesn’t taste very Scotch Ale-ish. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Dec 31, 2006 355ml brown bottle. Orangey brown colour, tan head which fades into a wisp on the surface. Floral hop in the aroma, citrus-grapefruit note, with caramel malt. Peaty smoked malt flavour, some sweetness and caramel malt. Malty, earthy finish with light hops and woody notes. Medium body. Fightfire4beer (125), Virginia, USA Dec 29, 2006 Tap. Dark copper color with a thick white head. Aroma of malt and burnt wood. Malt, caramel and hints of fruit in the flavor. The finish reminds me of apple pie tobacco. B presario (2953), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Dec 19, 2006 Bottle. Lasting cream head on bronze. Hard to pick much out of the light aroma, perhaps faint hops, caramal and newsprint. Thick body. Weird sweet flavour with a long smokey peat finish. Enjoyable but stops short of the depth I prefer in the style. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Dec 9, 2006 Bottle. Thanks to friends in Idaho. Poured a dark golden colored. Has an apple cider armoa to it. Has the tatse of apples mixed with a smoke taste. Good beer. raphael (411), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 9, 2006 Riesling-ish aroma, biter sugar, slightly cherry. Head gone quickly. Not as “ruby” as advertised. this bottle a little flat. I taste the water more than I taste the malt, thin for a scotch ale. Delicate flavor, appley, peat smoke, dark caramel in the back. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2006 Bottle... Hazy orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Malty, beefy aroma with a rumor of wood. Malty, sweet flavor with lots of toffee and caramel and a hint of wood. Nicely hopped to keep that sweetness in check. Full-bodied and oily with lively carbonation. Finishes moderately malty and a touch woodsy. Thanks to Kenb for shipping this gem my way!
