Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Almost clear, bronze with a filmy, white top that doesn’t last. Smokey malt, nicely balanced with hops a fruit to contrast some toffee malt fill the aroma, while a biscuity and smokey malt flavour are in perfect balance with hops flavour and bittering and toffee malt sweetness. Medium body with mild carbonation and a clean, yet sweet finish.

Ahh Kilt Lifter... this is one of the beers that helped me search out better beers. With out Kilt Lifter I’d still be a Macro drinker (perish the thought). I don’t think I’d ever just buy a single bottle but when one needs a reasonably priced six pack this is where I go looking, especially when I know I’ll be having guest. It’s not amazing but it works well as a happy medium.

A subtle cotton candy sweetness on the initial taste followed by a mild hint of Scotch on the finish makes this a true taste treat. Grab one, if you can. You won’t be disappointed.

Golden amber body with no real head. Malty nose with some peat smoke. Great malts, medium body, faint smoke, with a very nice hopped up finish.

This beer is HOPPY! Like, as in, IPA hoppy! Beware. Pretty sweet malts in there, but the alcohol burn is substantial and, given the sweetness, you’d think it was 8% abv, not 6.7%. Anyhoo, this beer is indeed lightly smoked and has some woodiness to it. If you’re into that sort of thing (I’m not particularly), then go for it. Bitterness lingers on the tongue.

Indeed, this is a very strong scotch ale. Malty, with a nice hoppy kick. The only reservation is the aftertaste, which is somewhat bitter.

on tap at pike. pretty standard scotch ale, quite a sweet, brown sugar aroma, generic scottish peaty character and some stewed apricot flavour. i struggle a bit with the sweetness of this style but i dunno

On Tap at Kahootz. Medium amber color with a small off-white head. Thin, but even lacing. Aromas of carmel, hops and malt. Flavor is sharp, malty, with some woody flavors and a good hop kick. The feel is a bit thin and quite lively carbonation. Finish is slightly biter hops lingering.
