Malty aroma with a tinge of hop spiciness. Sweet caramel malt flavors comingle with a rather fruity ester profile. The nose fairly sweet, whereas the finish is predominately residual fruit character. The mouthfeel is a bit watery. beerbabybeer (39), langley, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2005 tap. this beer is a rather flat looking amber, head was small and did not last. this beer does not have a significant release of gasses. it smells nice, malty, sweet, some hop bitterness, with a good nose of brandy. taste is similar and smooth, slightly tart and sweet, smokey malts and some dried fruit. mouthfeel is a bit flat, but at least it goes down smoothly. finish is nice and a bit bitter-sweet. vaguely reminds me of a few strong ipa’s i’ve had. a solid beer. asheft (1383), Marburg, Germany
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 30, 2005 Almost clear, bronze with a filmy, white top that doesn’t last. Smokey malt, nicely balanced with hops a fruit to contrast some toffee malt fill the aroma, while a biscuity and smokey malt flavour are in perfect balance with hops flavour and bittering and toffee malt sweetness. Medium body with mild carbonation and a clean, yet sweet finish. nicplemel (19), Seattle, Washington, USA

With out Kilt Lifter I’d still be a Macro drinker (perish the thought). I don’t think I’d ever just buy a single bottle but when one needs a reasonably priced six pack this is where I go looking, especially when I know I’ll be having guest. It’s not amazing but it works well as a happy medium. KAggie97 (2427), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Grab one, if you can. You won’t be disappointed. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Golden amber body with no real head. Malty nose with some peat smoke. Great malts, medium body, faint smoke, with a very nice hopped up finish. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 28, 2005 This beer is HOPPY! Like, as in, IPA hoppy! Beware. Pretty sweet malts in there, but the alcohol burn is substantial and, given the sweetness, you’d think it was 8% abv, not 6.7%. Anyhoo, this beer is indeed lightly smoked and has some woodiness to it. If you’re into that sort of thing (I’m not particularly), then go for it. Bitterness lingers on the tongue. zarniwoop (6), Iowa, USA does not count | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2005 Indeed, this is a very strong scotch ale. Malty, with a nice hoppy kick. The only reservation is the aftertaste, which is somewhat bitter.
