Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Amber color with thin beige head, and moderate lacing. Roasty honey malts hit first, very strong, with a bitter tangy finish.

A very sweet malty/caramel aroma. Slightly hazy orange with a small white fast falling head. Taste starts malty sweet, with some good caramel roasty tones, good balance and a sweet finish. A very smooth tasty brew.

bottle 12 oz. Purchased at Huckleberry's in Spokane. Almost clear amber/copper, moderate carbonation, small off white head that died fast, min lace. Aroma is light roasted malt, CO2, minimal hops & a touch of toffee. Flavor is somewhat sweet medium roasted malt rather lightly hopped. Some bitterness with a slight earthy taste & some spice. Medium bodied. A bit tinny (I don't mean tin tasting), could have been smoother and richer but not bad. A trace of alcohol is noticible. I prefer more of a hop balance. Would buy again if I couldn’t get what I like better.

Murky, dark orange appearance, light white head which fades quickly. Faint, fruity aroma - a bit of raisins in there as well. Has a slight Christmas spice flavor, with some dates and prunes as well. Has a bit of a smoky undertone to it all. Very clean palate, finishes strong. Alcohol hidden well.

Pours a light golden amber hue with a small white head. Aromas of straw, a little caramel and a little roasted. Flavors of honey, roasted malts, a slight smokiness, and caramel. Mouthfeel is meduim bodied and goes down smooth. This was a lot better than I had thought, yet is is the "lighter scotch ale" that so badly want this not to be.

This is an interesting beer that I couldn’t really get my taste buds around. it had lots of flavor but I couldn’t really figure out where it was going. A very decent beer though with good taste.

Dark golden/light copper color. Lightly sweet and sour caramel malty aroma. Starts lightly sour with some mild caramel toffee sweetness. Finishes with a tart body and a touch of bitterness. Thanks to harlequinn for bringing this to the Georgia 14% gathering.

A copper color I think? It was pretty dark at the Summits Tavern. Well anyway this was a good simple beer. The flavor was malty and creamy with some caramel and grapes in the flavor. I detected some chocolate in there as well. A bit on the sweet side but I liked it.
