| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 18, 2009 Light copper, thick sticky head. Little caramel nose and a little nectar. Wow. Wow. I remembered this as a gentle introduction to peaty scotch ales, but POW there’s a decent smoky body that persists through the sip. Smoky character doesn’t start until the swallow so it goes from milk thistle, to smoke, to caramel and more smoke creeps in. I’m buying more of this in the future. stchloe (482), Portland, Oregon, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 1, 2009 On Tap at the Pike Brewery. Poured a really nice dark orange color with a thin off white head. Aroma was big caramel toffee and malt. Flavor was sweet, but had a nice balancing hop bitterness. Well balanced. Really nice scotch ale. jrob21 (1257), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

On tap; poured a red mahogany with an offwhite head and some lace. Aroma was nearly pure butterscotch. The taste was more of the same, with a slight hint of chili and a definite smokiness. sebletitje (1903), Tampa, Florida, USA
