TChrome (1298), Bedford, Texas, USA May 11, 2009 Beer pours amber color, cloudy with an off white head that is retained. Aroma is right on with lots of caramel maltiness, very light peat. The flavor nails th style for me with lots of sweet caramel goodness, just a touch of peat and a little hopiness to give it just a bit of balance. Very nice scoth ale. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands May 7, 2009 Tap@Brewpub, 6.5% ABV. Malty and light peaty aroma. Amber colour, beige head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, peaty, herbal hops, nutty. Sticky and soft mouth feel. Flavourful and highly drinkable. thornecb (1736), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA May 3, 2009 Pours garnet into a thistle. Creamy white micro head with excellent retention leaves no lacing as it recedes to skim surface. Apple and caramel aromas. Sweet and full with caramel upfront and a dry pit fruit finish. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Apr 7, 2009 On tap at Pike in Seattle. Caramelly in color. Aroma was pretty light; with some caramel and peat, but not much. Flavor was smoky, peat, caramel. A bit harsh on the palate, which was a bit detracting. Still it was ok. jthg (66), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 31, 2009 the aroma is rich and slightly smokey and a little bit sweet. And then it goes down hill. The taste is ridiculously smokey. In the end it is beer. Just not good beer. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Mar 26, 2009 Bottle drank with angrypirate06. Pours with a hazed burn brown color underneath a quick to fade, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, light peat, honey, prunes and very light hops. Taste is quite smokey and peaty with caramel, dark fruits and an odd yeastiness. Thin mouthfeel, watery with light carbonation. angrypirate06 (678), Texas, USA Mar 25, 2009 22 oz shared with Bman1113vr. Nice red-brown color with a quickly receding head. Raisins on the nose, with some additional yeast. Smoky flavor up front with a nice bit of malty sweetness. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 19, 2009 3/19/09 9:45pm .. Houston,TX ::::: funny, has a very british malt profile, light caramel and odd biscuit malt (very english ale) like flavours ... low but sturdy headpool ... a very simple beer (no scotch here) ... stormy seems to be feeling better ... "if you buy it, women will have sex in your backyard" .... pours a slightly murky marmalade colour... no city noise, no flesh eating ogres, no pollution, a real easy drinking brew that would be good for a beginner but falls horribly short of a real craft brew ... one of pikes lesser efforts...freebie from Pablo, thx!
